This roll cage was manufactured at the owners request from 4130N chrome moly tube in the year 2000. Engineering of the cages (which CAMS requires if constructed from chrome moly), was not expensive then; in the order of $300.00. In recent years, with changes to insurance requirements, the engineering fees are as expenxive as the cage and most opt not to pay. This cage in a Hyundia Excel weighed 49kg. A similar cage in CDW would weigh around 75kg.
