Stephen Willies Crashes Torino

Apr 24

Stephen Willies suffered a major setback to his racing, after impacting the concrete wall at the recent Nostalgia race meeting. After a normal launch in the left hand lane the rear RH cylinder (no 4 in the Big Block Ford), dropped the intake valve which forced the piston through the cylinder wall. In due course the engine dumped the entire contents of its cooling system out of the headers and through the injector hat and unfortunately, under both tyres. Stephen lost control and the car crossed the centreline impacting the wall at the 660 marker in his opponents lane.
Stephen was thankfully unhurt in the incident, but the same cannot be said for the beautiful cars body work. The chassis appears OK apart from a couple of minor dings and broken front right suspension, but the same connot be said for some of the rare front end fittings including the grille and RH headlight surround.
